La Fabbrica del Vedere è uno spazio in cui si approfondiscono i temi dell’immagine in movimento, dal cinema sperimentale al video d’artista. È un luogo di studio e di visioni, in cui si discutono le idee del presente e si possono mettere alla prova sistemi di riproduzione antichi. È una vera fabbrica perché è stata fondata per lavorare, con lo sguardo e coi pensieri.
Situata a Venezia in Calle del Forno, La Fabbrica del Vedere è costituita da un luogo d’incontri, esposizioni e workshop, e – al piano superiore – da videoteca, biblioteca e deposito dei materiali (incisioni e stampe, fotografie e pellicole, nastri magnetici e codici digitali e relative apparecchiature) che testimoniano quello che Gian Piero Brunetta chiama “il volo dell’icononanuta”. La sede ed i materiali sono visitabili e consultabili su appuntamento.
La Fabbrica del Vedere è l’elemento portante dell’Associazione Culturale Archivio Carlo Montanaro.
I primi 6 anni di attività 2014 – 2020
La Fabbrica del Vedere (The Factory of Seeing) is a space within which the themes of image in movement are studied in depth, from experimental cinema to video art. It is a place of study and vision, in which ideas of the present are discussed and it is possible to examine old systems of reproduction. It is a real factory because it was founded for working by looking and thinking.
Situated in Venice on Calle del Forno, La Fabbrica del Vedere is composed of a place for meetings, exhibitions and workshops, and, on the floor above, there is a videotech, library and storeroom for materials (engravings and prints, photographs and films, magnetic tapes and digital media, and relevant equipment) which testify to the birth and technological development of the reproduction of images. The archive and the material may be visited and consulted by appointment.
La Fabbrica del Vedere is the fundamental element of the Associazione Culturale Archivio Carlo Montanaro (declared of local interest September 2013 by the Veneto Region) which manages a collection which originated in the 1960s from interest and passion and gradually acquired a professional function (Carlo Montanaro taught at the Academy of Fine Arts and at the University of Venice at Ca’ Foscari). In 2011/2012 the Association celebrated the Centenary of the birth of Francesco Pasinetti, and from 2013 it has been publishing the tri-semester ALL’ARCHIMEDE.
